BIM Engineer – Metal Building Design

About the role

Allied Steel Buildings – Allied Engineering Colombia is looking for a BIM Engineer to join its engineering team in Bucaramanga. The role focuses on creating accurate 3D models and fabrication‑ready documentation for pre‑engineered metal building projects, working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed 3D models of metal structures using Tekla Structures.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing engineers to produce construction and fabrication drawings.
• Ensure all outputs meet industry standards, project specifications, and best practices.
• Participate in coordination meetings, providing BIM and engineering insights.
• Review and validate fabrication models to support manufacturing and on‑site construction.
• Support design verification, clash detection, and BIM coordination across disciplines.
• Maintain engineering documentation and BIM records for quality assurance.
• Assist project managers and manufacturing engineers in transitioning designs to fabrication.
• Mentor junior engineers in BIM modeling and detailing.
• Continuously improve BIM workflows and engineering processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Structural Engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience with BIM software, especially Tekla Structures.
• Strong understanding of structural design principles, fabrication processes, and construction detailing.
• Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
