Custodian – Facility Cleaning & Hazardous Waste Specialist

About the role

The Custodian ensures that all assigned areas are clean, sanitary, and safe. This position combines routine janitorial duties with specialized hazardous‑waste handling to maintain a healthy environment for staff and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily janitorial tasks according to the schedule.
• Handle hazardous waste: collect, classify, sort, store, ship, receive, label, clean, recycle, and package special waste.
• Operate motorized cleaning equipment and maintain its upkeep.
• Report incidents and hazardous conditions to the supervisor.
• Follow all safety rules, use personal protective equipment, and stop risky behavior.
• Work collaboratively with team members, fill in during staff shortages, and support the shift lead.
• Maintain a clean work area and present a professional appearance.
• Communicate professionally with leads, supervisors, co‑workers, managers, and customers.

Required profile

• No specific education required; 3‑6 months of training or experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license may be required.
• Completed safety and task‑training certifications; forklift certification may be required.
• Bilingual ability is a plus.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, and manuals.
