Lead Technician, Design Support

About the role

WSP Colombia is seeking a Lead Technician to provide advanced tower detailing, drafting, and CADD support for high‑voltage transmission line and utility infrastructure projects. You will work closely with engineers, contractors, and fabricators to ensure designs are constructible, manufacturable, and compliant with industry codes.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, review, and oversee detailed structural models, fabrication, assembly, and erection drawings.
• Prepare 2D/3D CADD models, fabrication packages, construction drawings, and as‑built documentation.
• Validate engineering deliverables against ASCE, AISC, NESC, utility standards, and client specifications.
• Analyze calculations, loading studies, and field data to support tower design.
• Conduct QA/QC reviews of models, fabrication packages, and erection plans.
• Mentor junior designers and drafters in detailing practices and QA/QC procedures.

Required profile

• High School Diploma.
• Minimum 11 years of drafting and design support experience in transmission or utility projects.
• Strong knowledge of industry codes, standards, and compliance requirements.
