Senior Bookkeeper for Accounting Firm (Remote)

About the role

Higher Options is looking for an experienced Senior Bookkeeper to manage day‑to‑day financial records for a growing accounting firm. This fully remote role welcomes candidates worldwide, especially those who can align with U.S. business hours.

Key responsibilities

• Record daily, monthly and yearly transactions in QuickBooks Online, Xero or similar platforms.
• Maintain detailed ledgers for income, expenses, and fixed assets, including depreciation schedules.
• Prepare balance sheets, income statements, cash‑flow statements and other financial reports.
• Perform regular bank and credit‑card reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, issue invoices and ensure timely payments.
• Support month‑end and year‑end closing, including accruals, adjusting entries and tax‑season documentation.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, assist with tax filings and regulatory reporting.
• Collaborate with management, CPAs and stakeholders using cloud‑based tools.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of professional bookkeeping experience (5 years preferred) with U.S. accounting practices.
• High school diploma required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field is a strong plus.
• Experience with real‑estate asset depreciation is advantageous.

Required skills

• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Xero or Zoho Books.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Familiarity with U.S. GAAP and tax procedures.
