Senior Bookkeeper – Remote (Accounting Firm)

About the role

Higher Options is looking for an experienced Senior Bookkeeper to manage day‑to‑day financial records for a growing accounting firm. The role is fully remote and open to candidates worldwide, with a preference for those who can overlap U.S. business hours.

Key responsibilities

• Record daily, monthly and yearly financial transactions in QuickBooks Online, Xero or similar platforms.
• Maintain detailed ledgers for income, expenses, and fixed assets, including depreciation schedules.
• Prepare balance sheets, income statements, cash‑flow statements and other financial reports.
• Perform regular bank and credit‑card reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, create invoices, track payments and ensure timely vendor payments.
• Support month‑end and year‑end closing processes, including accruals and adjusting entries.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and provide insights for leadership planning.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, support tax filings and regulatory reporting.
• Collaborate with management, CPAs and stakeholders in a remote environment.

Required profile

• At least 3 years of professional bookkeeping experience (5 years preferred).
• Hands‑on experience with U.S. accounting practices; real‑estate asset depreciation a plus.
• High school diploma required; associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field is a strong plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Xero or Zoho Books.
• Strong Excel skills.
• Familiarity with U.S. GAAP and month‑end closing procedures.
