Senior Bookkeeper (Remote) for Accounting Firm

About the role

Higher Options is looking for an experienced Senior Bookkeeper to manage day‑to‑day financial records for a growing accounting firm. The position is fully remote and open to candidates worldwide, with a preference for those able to overlap with U.S. business hours.

Key responsibilities

• Record and maintain daily, monthly, and yearly financial transactions in the accounting system.
• Prepare balance sheets, income statements, cash‑flow statements and other financial reports.
• Perform regular bank and credit‑card reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, including invoicing, payment tracking, and vendor payments.
• Maintain the general ledger, categorize expenses, track fixed assets and prepare depreciation schedules.
• Support budgeting and forecasting by providing relevant financial insights.
• Assist with month‑end and year‑end closing procedures and prepare documentation for CPA tax filings.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, tax procedures and regulatory reporting.
• Collaborate with management, CPAs and stakeholders in a remote environment.
• Leverage QuickBooks Online, Xero, Zoho Books and Excel to streamline workflows and improve processes.

Required profile

• At least 3 years of professional bookkeeping experience (5 years preferred) with U.S. accounting practices.
• High school diploma required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field is a strong plus.
• Familiarity with real‑estate asset depreciation is advantageous.

Required skills

• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Xero or Zoho Books.
• Strong Excel skills.
