Accountant II

About the role

The Accountant II will support the EpiC project’s financial operations in Bogota, ensuring accurate recording, classification, and analysis of all financial transactions. This position works closely with country office staff and global program management to maintain robust accounting practices.

Key responsibilities

• Process and record journal entries, cash receipts, field cash management, and wire payments on a monthly basis.
• Review and consolidate country office financial statements, preparing month‑end reports and cash/travel reconciliations.
• Provide live training on financial systems and processes to field program staff.
• Assist with internal and external audits, responding to audit requests and preparing required documentation.
• Reconcile US‑based sub‑recipients with general ledger accounts and review inter‑department cash requests.
• Support financial analysis projects, system upgrades, and the development of accounting controls.

Required profile

• Demonstrated ability to apply accounting principles and GAAP to budgeting, forecasting, and cost accounting.
• Experience preparing financial reports, statements, and supporting documentation for audit purposes.
• Strong analytical skills with the capacity to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate with global program managers and field teams.

Required skills

• Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Proficiency in journal entry processing and cash management.
• Experience with financial reporting and audit support.
• Ability to work with accounting software and maintain general ledger and sub‑ledger records.
