Data Engineer Manager

About the role

Blend is seeking a Data Engineer Manager to lead the design, development, and scaling of data solutions that power its Journey Analytics initiatives. The role combines hands‑on engineering with people leadership to deliver high‑quality, reusable data platforms for analytics and reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of data engineers while actively contributing to code development.
• Define and drive the technical strategy for Journey Analytics data platforms.
• Maintain, optimize, and automate code repositories in GitHub.
• Refactor legacy codebases to improve maintainability, scalability, and reusability.
• Design and build modular, reusable data components for multiple journeys.
• Develop and manage automated data pipelines in Databricks.
• Design scalable data models for current and future analytics use cases.
• Ensure data quality, governance, performance, and reliability across pipelines and datasets.
• Collaborate with analytics, product, and engineering stakeholders to align data solutions with business needs.
• Identify risks and bottlenecks, and drive mitigation strategies.
• Promote continuous improvement of data processes, documentation, and engineering practices.

Required profile

• 7+ years of experience in data engineering.
• Proven experience leading and mentoring technical teams.
• Strong track record of delivering scalable data solutions in cross‑functional environments.
• Hands‑on mindset with the ability to contribute to code while setting standards.
