Intermediate Electrical Engineer – Renewable Energy

About the role

Join WSP’s renewable energy team to design and deliver large‑scale solar, wind and battery storage projects. As an Intermediate Electrical Engineer you will work with multidisciplinary teams across Canada, contributing to the energy transition through robust electrical designs.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed electrical designs for solar, wind, BESS and medium‑/high‑voltage substations.
• Produce and coordinate engineering deliverables such as drawings, technical studies, specifications and calculations.
• Perform technical reviews and quality control of work prepared by engineers and technicians.
• Provide technical supervision and guidance to junior engineers, EITs and technicians.
• Support construction, site visits and commissioning activities as required.
• Collaborate with project managers and multidisciplinary teams to ensure schedule adherence and solution quality.
• Assist the market development team with technical input for service proposals.
• Contribute to technical reviews and due‑diligence assignments under senior supervision.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in renewable energy project design (solar, wind, BESS).
• Professional engineering designation in a Canadian province is an asset.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English; French is desirable.

Required skills

• Proficiency with design software such as ETAP, Easy Power, Cymcap, PSCAD, PSS/E, CDEGS and WinIGS.
• Experience in high‑ and medium‑voltage substation design.
• Experience designing medium‑voltage collector networks.
• Familiarity with Canadian interconnection standards and industry‑recognized codes.
