Software Engineer, Backend & Test Automation

About the role

We are looking for a hands‑on Software Engineer who will focus on building and maintaining automated test frameworks while also contributing to backend services. The position is fully remote, targeting candidates in Latin America who can align their working hours with U.S. Eastern Time. This is a contract role expected to run through March 2027.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain automated test frameworks using TypeScript and Playwright.
• Develop functional, integration, and API automated tests.
• Write clear, comprehensive, and maintainable test cases.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and execution workflows.
• Investigate test failures, application defects, and production issues.
• Perform debugging, troubleshooting, and root‑cause analysis.
• Develop and maintain backend services using Java or Kotlin.
• Contribute independently to production application code.
• Collaborate with engineering teams through established development, review, and delivery processes.
• Help improve the reliability, maintainability, and overall quality of backend services.

Required profile

• Strong professional backend engineering experience.
• Proven test engineering and automation expertise.
• Ability to work independently with limited oversight.
• Experience contributing to production code, not only test code.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills within a remote team.
