Director, Medical Affairs – Americas

About the role

The Director, Medical Affairs – Americas will lead the Medical Affairs function for DePuy Synthes across Brazil, Chile, Colombia, the United States, Canada and other Americas markets. Reporting to senior leadership, the role ensures safe, compliant, and effective generation and communication of scientific and clinical evidence for orthopedic products.

Key responsibilities

• Provide operational leadership for Medical Affairs across the Americas region.
• Develop and execute medical strategy that supports product lifecycle and market access.
• Oversee evidence‑generation activities, including clinical studies, real‑world data analyses and publications.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, legal and internal policies in all medical communications.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams such as R&D, regulatory affairs, marketing and sales to align scientific messaging.
• Engage with key opinion leaders, healthcare professionals and external stakeholders to gather insights and disseminate findings.
• Mentor and manage regional medical affairs staff, fostering a high‑performing team.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in medical affairs, preferably within orthopedics or medical devices.
• Proven track record of leading regional or multi‑country medical teams.
• Strong understanding of scientific evidence generation and regulatory compliance.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
