AI Engineer – Internal AI Backbone (Barcelona)

About the role

We are seeking an AI Engineer to become the primary Subject Matter Expert for AI within our R&D organization. This hands‑on, high‑impact position will design and maintain the internal AI backbone that powers agentic systems, optimizes pipelines, and equips developers with cutting‑edge AI tooling.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and ship agentic workflows and AI‑driven tools to accelerate engineering productivity.
• Create and support customized Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines, MCP servers, and dedicated AI utilities for each team.
• Deploy and manage local AI agents and developer assistants (e.g., Ollama, OpenClaw) in Docker‑based environments.
• Implement and maintain API routing layers (LiteLLM, Kong) to standardize and secure external AI traffic via AWS Bedrock or Azure AI Foundry.
• Monitor token consumption, API latency, and overall AI spend to identify bottlenecks and ensure cost‑effective usage.

Required profile

• Deep familiarity with AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, Cursor, and GitHub Copilot.
• Strong engineering background with the ability to understand codebases and development workflows.
• Hands‑on experience deploying large language models using vLLM, Ollama, or Hugging Face TGI.
• Experience integrating AI services securely through AWS Bedrock and Azure AI Foundry.

• LiteLLM or Kong for API proxy management
• LangChain or LlamaIndex for RAG architectures
