Backend Engineer (PHP) – Remote

About the role

As a Backend Engineer specializing in PHP, you will build and maintain high‑performance web applications and APIs, modernizing legacy systems and delivering scalable solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust backend services using PHP 7.4+/8+ with Laravel or Symfony.
• Build and optimise RESTful APIs for seamless integration with front‑end applications and third‑party services.
• Lead refactoring efforts to improve codebase maintainability, performance, and security.
• Manage and optimise database schemas and queries in MySQL, MariaDB, or PostgreSQL.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate business requirements into efficient technical implementations.

Required profile

• 4+ years of experience in backend engineering with a focus on PHP development.
• Proven expertise with PHP 7.4+/8+ and MVC frameworks such as Laravel or Symfony.
• Strong hands‑on experience designing and building RESTful APIs.
• Solid proficiency in SQL databases (MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL).
• Advanced proficiency in English.
