Blasting Engineer – Technical Services

About the role

The Blasting Engineer provides engineering support for the safe management, storage, handling and use of explosives on mining sites. You will ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, verify blast designs and oversee all activities related to blasting operations.

Key responsibilities

• Verify each blast design to ensure safety and compliance.
• Manage storage, handling and use of explosives to protect health and safety.
• Determine hazard zones in consultation with project managers and authorities.
• Prepare and obtain approval for written blast specifications.
• Inspect equipment, accessories and electrical firing systems for suitability and safety.
• Conduct second‑checks of surface/sub‑surface connections before covering.
• Control access to hazard zones and ensure only authorized personnel work with explosives.
• Monitor ventilation, gas levels and conduct post‑blast gas monitoring.
• Audit compliance with explosives regulations and company policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant professional experience in mining or a similar industry.
• Knowledge of explosives regulations and safety standards.
