Business Office Manager

About the role

The Business Office Manager oversees the financial and administrative operations of a skilled‑nursing or long‑term care facility. This role ensures accurate billing, manages Medicaid and Medi‑Cal authorizations, and supervises the business office team to maintain compliance and efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Obtain and track managed‑care, Medi‑Cal, and Medicaid authorizations, including bedholds and redeterminations.
• Assist residents with trust‑fund statements and manage monthly distribution.
• Supervise business office staff, enforce disciplinary actions, and schedule daily activities.
• Maintain census data, report status changes, and attend stand‑up meetings as requested.
• Prepare TARS, support Medicaid applications, and handle billing and payment processes, including bank deposits.
• Conduct collection activities for delinquent accounts and ensure timely follow‑up on work results.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of skilled‑nursing billing and payment processes.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Preferably at least one year of experience in a long‑term care facility.
• Ability to read technical procedures, policy manuals, and interpret written or oral instructions.
• Basic mathematical skills for applying fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
