Controller / Director of Client Accounting

About the role

Thryve is seeking a Controller/Director of Client Accounting to lead the accounting and financial reporting function for a portfolio of growing organizations. This full‑time hybrid position is based in Medellín and combines on‑site collaboration with remote work.

Key responsibilities

• Own month‑end and year‑end close processes for all assigned clients.
• Prepare, review and analyse financial statements and supporting schedules in accordance with applicable standards.
• Monitor and maintain internal controls, policies and procedures for client accounts.
• Lead, mentor and develop a client‑accounting team.
• Coordinate with CFO advisory and tax teams to ensure integrated service delivery.
• Act as primary finance liaison for client leadership, addressing queries and providing insights.
• Analyse financial results, identify trends and risks, and recommend process improvements.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and other strategic finance initiatives for clients.

Required profile

• Strong foundation in finance with experience managing end‑to‑end accounting for multiple entities or clients.
• Advanced knowledge of financial statements and reporting standards.
• Demonstrated experience implementing and monitoring internal controls.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
• Proven ability to lead and develop accounting teams, preferably in an outsourcing environment.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid model in Medellín, manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
• Experience with international clients is a plus.
