Data Engineer

About the role

Slalom is looking for a Data Engineer to join its Data Architecture & Engineering team. You will collaborate with solution architects and other engineers to design, build, and optimise data platforms on AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud for forward‑thinking clients.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement components of client data platform solutions under the guidance of a Solution Architect.
• Participate in design sessions and translate complex requirements into actionable development tasks.
• Deliver high‑quality development items on schedule, both individually and for the data engineers you support.
• Build solutions using modern data technologies such as cloud data warehouses, distributed processing engines, and event‑streaming platforms.
• Work across streaming/real‑time data, modern data platforms, data architecture, and AI‑accelerated data engineering.

Required profile

• 4+ years of hands‑on experience designing, building, and optimising data engineering solutions in production.
• Curious mindset, self‑starter attitude, and ability to break large problems into smaller, manageable tasks.
• Strong communication skills and willingness to share knowledge with teammates.

Required skills

• Cloud platforms & warehouses: Amazon Redshift, Snowflake, Google BigQuery, Azure Synapse Analytics, Amazon EMR.
• Big data & streaming: Apache Spark, Presto, Databricks, Amazon Kinesis, Apache Kafka.
• Workflow & orchestration: Apache Airflow, dbt, Dagster, Azure Data Factory.
• Databases, containers & ML: DynamoDB, Cosmos DB, MongoDB, Kubernetes, Amazon ECS, Amazon SageMaker, Azure ML Studio.
• Programming languages: Python, Java (object‑oriented).
