Estimating Team Lead

About the role

The Estimating Team Lead will drive the accuracy, timeliness, and strategic alignment of all project estimates. This senior professional will manage a dedicated estimating team, ensure high‑risk estimates are rigorously reviewed, and collaborate closely with pre‑construction and engineering groups.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and evaluate the estimating team to meet performance goals.
• Validate high‑risk or high‑volume estimates before submission.
• Analyze estimate‑to‑execution variances and implement corrective actions.
• Allocate work based on team capacity, project complexity, and deadlines.
• Maintain visibility of workload, pipeline, and backlog to avoid bottlenecks.
• Coordinate with pre‑construction on project intake, prioritization, and assignments.
• Standardize estimating criteria, assumptions, and cross‑checking processes.
• Participate directly in complex, strategic, or high‑risk projects.
• Monitor metrics such as productivity, accuracy, and external resource usage.
• Lead weekly cross‑functional meetings to review production, risks, and estimate quality.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or related field.
• Fluent conversational English (C1 level).
• 5+ years of progressive experience in construction estimating, pre‑construction, or structural steel estimating.
• At least 1 year of experience leading an estimating team.

Required skills

• Proficiency with a rebar calculation/estimation platform (e.g., aSa Estimating, Shear 97, Soulé, RGS or equivalent).
