Estimator – Capital Cost Estimating for Engineering Projects

About the role

Hatch Colombia is seeking an experienced Estimator to join its Project Delivery Group. You will be responsible for delivering accurate capital cost estimates for multi‑disciplinary engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) projects across mining, energy and infrastructure sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Understand the scope, deliverables, schedule and reporting format for each estimate.
• Develop and follow an estimate plan aligned with project requirements.
• Produce accurate, comprehensive estimates in line with Hatch’s procedures and standards.
• Provide input to the project schedule regarding estimating deliverables.
• Calculate direct and indirect field costs using first‑principles or factor‑based methods.
• Forecast cash expenditures and potential cost escalations over the project life.
• Participate in project progress meetings and estimate review sessions.
• Maintain and continuously improve the estimating database.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in cost estimating for engineering and construction projects, preferably in EPC/EPCM environments.
• Strong proficiency with MS Office and estimating software/tools.
• Advanced written and spoken English.
• Degree in Mechanical, Civil or Industrial Engineering or equivalent site experience.
• Knowledge of various estimating techniques, commercial contracts and the mining/infrastructure industry.
