Financial Controller

About the role

We are seeking a seasoned Financial Controller to design, implement, and oversee accounting processes for a multi‑entity property management portfolio. The role combines strategic budgeting, cash‑flow modeling, and rigorous compliance oversight to ensure financial integrity across all assets.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build chart of accounts, reporting templates, and audit trails from the ground up.
• Lead month‑end close, variance analysis, and 30/60/90‑day cash‑flow forecasting.
• Manage budgeting, capital‑expenditure planning, and lease‑rent audit to eliminate revenue leakage.
• Oversee escrow, security‑deposit accounting, and debt/vender schedule tracking.
• Maintain strict separation of books across multiple LLCs and produce consolidated financial reports.
• Supervise remote bookkeeping staff, review their work, and improve workflows.
• Administer property‑management software and develop advanced Excel models.

Required profile

• 5+ years of accounting/finance experience, including 2–3 years in property management or real‑estate.
• Proven ability to manage books for multiple entities or LLCs simultaneously.
• Experience as the primary reviewer of accounting work at a controller level.
• Track record of building accounting systems, templates, or processes from scratch.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in AppFolio (or equivalent platforms such as Yardi or RealPage).
• Expert‑level Excel skills for financial modeling and reporting.
