Financial Controller - Latin America

About the role

A global mobility company is looking for a strategic Financial Controller to own the close and local regulatory compliance processes for its legal entities in Latin America, with a primary focus on Brazil, Mexico and Peru, and to lead and develop its LATAM accounting team. The role provides accounting expertise to support treasury, tax planning and FP&A.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop the LATAM accounting team (about 5 to 6 people across Mexico, Brazil and Peru)
• Perform month-, quarter- and year-end close and financial reporting under U.S. and local GAAP, ensuring compliance with local statutory, tax, cash repatriation and other regulatory requirements
• Own local statutory audits, tax audits and regulatory changes, working with tax agents and BPOs
• Manage the general ledger, account reconciliations, flux analysis and internal controls, and deliver entity outputs for the global audit
• Improve the close process through automation, SOPs, scalability and standardization, and use AI tools to build automated accounting processes
• Support the accounting and compliance setup of new legal entities, including fiscalization and e-invoicing
• Partner with Treasury, Tax and FP&A on cash repatriation, tax planning and forecasting

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience owning month-, quarter- and year-end close under local and U.S. GAAP
• Must have experience in a large public company and strong U.S. GAAP knowledge in a Sarbanes-Oxley environment; IFRS is welcome alongside solid U.S. GAAP
• Proven people leadership and team-building experience
• Deep experience with local regulatory reporting, taxation and compliance, including BPOs and tax audits
• Clear written and spoken English; an authorized public accounting license such as Chartered Accountant or local equivalent
