Frontend Engineer – Svelte, Rust & Tauri

About the role

Plan A Technologies is seeking an experienced Frontend Engineer to lead the migration of a React proof‑of‑concept to a production‑ready Svelte application and to build a versatile customer portal. The role combines high‑performance web UI work with occasional contributions to desktop‑level functionality using Tauri and Rust.

Key responsibilities

• Migrate an existing React demo into a clean, performant Svelte codebase.
• Develop and maintain a customer portal that runs both as a standalone web app and embedded inside the desktop editor.
• Design UI components and tooling within the editor to support a complex conversion pipeline.
• Build lightweight desktop contexts with Tauri and integrate them with the Svelte frontend.
• Create asynchronous IPC bridges between the webview layer and native Rust backend.
• Implement virtual/in‑memory file systems and background services in Rust.
• Write unit, integration and end‑to‑end tests for both frontend (Svelte Testing Library, Vitest, Playwright) and Rust backend (Cargo test).
• Optimize package management and build performance using NPM or Bun.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional frontend engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript, HTML and CSS.
• Hands‑on experience with Svelte and Rust.
• Ability to work across the stack and contribute to desktop application features.
