Internal Audit Director – Americas

About the role

We are looking for an Internal Audit Director for the Americas to support the Chief Audit Executive in leading SGS’s Global Internal Audit Function. The role will oversee planning, execution and reporting of audit assignments across the Group’s worldwide operations.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the CAE in developing a risk‑based audit coverage program for global operations.
• Plan and supervise timely execution of multiple audit engagements in line with the Group Audit Manual and IIA Standards.
• Review and enhance audit documentation and reports to ensure clear communication of risks and key issues.
• Provide day‑to‑day leadership to regional audit teams, including guidance, issue resolution and performance feedback.
• Lead complex audits or special projects such as investigations, acquisition integrations or confidential assignments.
• Monitor implementation of audit recommendations and escalate overdue actions.
• Participate in recruitment, onboarding and capability development of audit staff.
• Promote a culture of integrity, objectivity and continuous improvement within the audit team.
• Drive initiatives to improve audit tools, methodologies and integrate data analytics.
• Represent Internal Audit in senior management and affiliate leadership interactions.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years in a corporate internal audit role.
• At least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
• Experience leading remote, multicultural teams and managing concurrent projects across time zones.
• Chartered Accountant, CPA, CIA or equivalent professional qualification.
