Junior Controller – Accounting & Tax

About the role

We are seeking a Junior Controller to lead accounting operations, tax compliance, and financial reporting for a growing US‑based company operating in Colombia. This permanent, high‑visibility position works closely with international stakeholders and reports directly to senior leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Lead day‑to‑day accounting operations and ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Manage month‑end and year‑end close processes.
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.
• Oversee corporate tax compliance and statutory reporting.
• Coordinate monthly tax filings in accordance with Colombian regulations.
• Manage relationships with tax authorities, auditors, and external advisors.
• Supervise and mentor accounting team members.
• Maintain and improve accounting processes and internal controls.
• Collaborate with US leadership, providing updates and recommendations in English.
• Support implementation and continuous improvement of accounting systems and procedures.

Required profile

• 3‑4 years of experience in accounting, with recent experience as a Controller.
• Strong knowledge of Colombian corporate accounting and tax regulations.
• Hands‑on experience with month‑end and year‑end close, general ledger, journal entries, financial statements, and corporate tax filings.
• Advanced English (written and spoken) for direct communication with US stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (CPA or equivalent preferred).
