Lab and Diagnostics Advisor

About the role

FHI 360 is seeking a Lab and Diagnostics Advisor to join the STRIDES project in Bogotá, Colombia. The role provides technical leadership for laboratory systems strengthening and diagnostics, aligning activities with national health priorities and donor requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead day‑to‑day implementation of laboratory‑related activities, ensuring quality and timeliness.
• Engage with the Ministry of Health and other government entities to align interventions with national standards.
• Develop and support laboratory policies, standards, and quality‑improvement processes at national and sub‑national levels.
• Maintain technical dialogue with in‑country partners, stakeholders, and implementing agencies.
• Contribute to the creation of tools, guidelines, and training materials for laboratory and diagnostic systems.
• Oversee work‑plan timelines, budgets, and reporting for the laboratory component.
• Supervise short‑term consultants supporting laboratory activities.

Required profile

• Proven experience in laboratory systems strengthening and diagnostics within public‑health settings.
• Familiarity with Colombia’s national health priorities and regulatory environment.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with government agencies and international partners.
• Strong judgment in evaluating complex technical problems and selecting appropriate solutions.
• Experience managing budgets, timelines, and supervising consultants.
