Legal Counsel – LATAM Cluster North

About the role

The Legal Counsel will be the sole legal lead for AbbVie’s LATAM Cluster North, providing strategic legal guidance across 23 countries. You will partner with business units in Immunology, Oncology, Specialty and Eye Care, supporting regional initiatives such as product launches, access strategies and cross‑border matters.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement legal strategies aligned with functional and business goals while minimizing legal risk.
• Lead negotiations for major contracts, especially with Cluster North distributors, and provide legal support for business transactions and corporate operations.
• Collaborate with regional leadership to develop new affiliate strategies and participate in cross‑functional global initiatives.
• Provide direction and leadership for all legal matters, ensuring compliance with the laws and regulations of each Cluster North country.
• Oversee the external contractor supporting the legal department to ensure compliance.
• Act as a strategic business partner within the Affiliate Management Team, advising senior leadership on legal implications of business decisions.
• Monitor regulatory changes across the region, assess impact on operations and recommend compliance actions.
• Manage litigation and dispute‑resolution processes, ensuring efficient and effective outcomes.
