Node.js Developer – Medellin

About the role

Sangoma is looking for a motivated Node.js Developer to join its development team in Medellín, Colombia. You will build and maintain high‑performance backend services for its UCaaS SaaS platform, working in an agile environment with cross‑functional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and RESTful APIs using Node.js and frameworks such as Express.js.
• Write clean, secure, and efficient code following best practices.
• Collaborate with frontend developers, product managers, QA and other stakeholders to deliver reliable software.
• Optimize backend systems for performance, scalability, reliability and security in a production SaaS environment.
• Participate in architectural discussions, code reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Troubleshoot, analyze and resolve production issues, performance bottlenecks and defects.
• Develop and maintain integrations with databases, third‑party services and internal systems.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes and overall backend infrastructure.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of professional experience developing backend applications with Node.js in production.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Express.js and building RESTful APIs.
• Experience with relational (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and/or NoSQL (MongoDB) databases.
• Understanding of asynchronous programming, event‑driven architecture and scalable design.
• Ability to debug and optimize backend performance.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
