Project Director - Gold Tailings Recovery (Mercury Remediation)

About the role

GateSource HR is looking for an experienced Gold Project Director with tailings recovery experience to lead the development, commissioning and operational ramp-up of a large-scale gold tailings reprocessing facility. The role focuses exclusively on reprocessing tailings through gravity recovery and CIL/CIP circuits, with no involvement in conventional mining. It aims to accelerate plant ramp-up, advance environmental remediation goals and ensure safe, compliant and efficient gold recovery.

Key responsibilities

• Lead commissioning and operation of a gold tailings reprocessing plant.
• Optimize gravity and CIL/CIP circuits to maximize recovery and performance.
• Ensure safe, stable and environmentally compliant operations.
• Oversee remediation programs and regulatory coordination.
• Manage OPEX and CAPEX with a focus on efficiency and risk reduction.
• Drive operational excellence through digital monitoring and continuous improvement.
• Provide strategic leadership to maximize tailings value and uphold ESG standards.

Required profile

• Operational experience in gold tailings processing plants.
• Experience in gravity gold recovery systems, CIL and/or CIP circuits, high-volume slurry transport systems and tailings retreatment infrastructure.
• Documented experience with mercury and heavy-metal remediation in tailings environments.
