Remote Accountant / Bookkeeper for Flooring Retail Business

About the role

This remote position supports a flooring retail and home‑improvement business that relies on accurate accounting, strong inventory visibility, and reliable financial data to make informed operational decisions. As the Accountant / Bookkeeper you will maintain precise financial records, manage day‑to‑day bookkeeping tasks, and ensure the integrity of accounting data across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records across bookkeeping, accounting, and operational finance activities.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable to support timely billing, collections, vendor payments, and cash‑flow visibility.
• Perform bank, credit‑card, vendor, customer, and inventory reconciliations with high accuracy.
• Support month‑end close by reviewing transactions, correcting discrepancies, and preparing clean financial data.
• Use QuickBooks Online or Desktop to enter, review, organize, and maintain accounting records.
• Prepare financial reports and accounting summaries for leadership.
• Support inventory‑related accounting processes, including cost tracking and purchase records.
• Identify bookkeeping inconsistencies, process gaps, or reporting issues and help improve workflows.
• Organize financial documents and schedules to be audit‑ready.
• Communicate clearly with internal teams about accounting questions and documentation needs.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience.
• Strong experience with QuickBooks (Online, Desktop, or both).
• Hands‑on experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Proven ability to perform reconciliations and support month‑end close.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and follow‑through.
• Strong organizational and communication skills in a remote work environment.
