Senior Analytics Engineer

About the role

PayJoy is seeking a Senior Analytics Engineer to lead the governance, definitions, and measurement foundations that ensure data trustworthiness and measurable decision‑making across the organization. You will own platform primitives that enable downstream teams to work faster with reliable data.

Key responsibilities

• Own PayJoy's Unity Catalog governance model, including schema architecture, tagging, metadata standards, lineage, grants, and PII controls to provide auditable, self‑evident data access.
• Define and operate tiered certification standards, service‑level objectives, and detection quality for high‑traffic data products while retiring duplicate models.
• Maintain the governed semantic layer and transformation loop (conformed dimensions, canonical entity keys, single definitions) to ensure consistent answers across teams.
• Establish experimentation measurement substrate, advising on tooling, statistical approaches, and instrumentation architecture.
• Deliver enablement projects that produce reusable patterns for broader adoption.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience with deep data governance expertise on modern lakehouse platforms (e.g., Unity Catalog) at multi‑catalog scale.
• Expert‑level data modeling skills with a proven track record of driving adoption of standards or tools across multiple teams.
• Strong communicator capable of explaining complex analytical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Comfortable working in ambiguous, high‑impact environments with broad scope and autonomy.
