Senior DevOps Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to join an international education and advocacy organization. The position is full‑time (40 hours/week) and remote, open to candidates located in Colombia, Mexico or Costa Rica. You will work with a diverse cloud‑native stack and travel to New York for a week each year.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with the back‑end development team and QA to ensure testable, deliverable products.
• Design, implement and maintain AWS‑based infrastructure and Kubernetes workloads on EKS.
• Develop and manage IaC using Terraform and configuration management with Ansible.
• Build and operate CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Travis CI) and container deployments with Docker and Helm.
• Monitor system health using Datadog, Prometheus and Sentry, and troubleshoot issues promptly.
• Participate actively in Scrum ceremonies, code reviews and Agile planning.

Required profile

• Strong hands‑on experience with a wide range of AWS services (CloudFront, WAF, Shield, API Gateway, S3, ECS, ECR, SSM, Lambda, CloudWatch, Route 53, EC2, ElastiCache).
• Proficiency in Kubernetes/EKS and container orchestration.
• Solid background in Terraform, Ansible, Docker, Helm 3 and Linux (Ubuntu/CentOS).
• Experience with PostgreSQL, Amazon RDS or Redshift, and scripting in Bash or Python.
• Familiarity with Elasticsearch/OpenSearch and monitoring tools such as Datadog, Prometheus and Sentry.
• Excellent English communication skills and proven ability to work remotely across time zones.
