Senior Systems Engineer – High‑Performance Data Processing (Remote)

About the role

BairesDev is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to design, optimise and maintain high‑performance data processing systems. The role focuses on safe concurrency, Python/C++ interoperability and efficient handling of large‑scale datasets, all while working 100% remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Design and optimise large‑scale data processing pipelines with a focus on concurrency, memory safety and performance.
• Improve and integrate columnar data pipelines using Apache Arrow and Parquet, ensuring zero‑copy and type‑consistent I/O.
• Build, profile and debug critical components with low‑level tools (gdb, valgrind, perf, sanitizers) to resolve race conditions, memory leaks and bottlenecks.
• Collaborate closely with data‑engineering, DevOps and platform teams to guarantee scalability, stability and observability.

Required profile

• 5+ years experience with concurrent systems and large‑scale data processing.
• Advanced proficiency in Python (multiprocessing, threading, shared_memory) and modern C++ (C++17+).
• Strong knowledge of IPC, shared memory, and Python↔C++ bindings (ctypes, pybind11, numpy.ctypeslib).
• 3+ years cloud experience on AWS, Azure or GCP.
• Hands‑on experience with Apache Arrow, Parquet, pyarrow and NumPy.
• Expertise with debugging/profiling tools (perf, valgrind, gdb/lldb, sanitizers, py‑spy, tracemalloc).
• Experience in stress testing, observability (Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, structured logging) and CI/CD pipelines for mixed Python/C++ environments.
• Advanced English communication skills.
