Senior Tax Preparer & Client Operations (Remote)

About the role

P1 Tax Advisors, a CPA firm in Charleston, South Carolina, is hiring one full-time, dedicated Senior Tax Preparer who also owns client operations. This is a fully remote contractor role for someone based in Latin America, working US Eastern hours, paid $2,800-$3,800 per month USD through Deel. The firm prepares individual and small-business returns, does tax planning, bookkeeping and fractional CFO work for about 100 businesses and families, and is growing.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare individual returns (1040 with Schedules C, D and E) and some 1120-S and 1065 returns in Drake Tax
• Review client organizers to identify missing or inconsistent documents and build workpapers before each return starts
• Own client operations in TaxDome: monitor the firm inbox and client chats, follow up on missing information, set up new clients and keep jobs moving
• Write plain-English emails to clients without review and help collect monthly bookkeeping data
• About a third of the time, especially November through January, is spent keeping client files moving

Required profile

• 2-3+ US tax seasons preparing 1040s at a US firm (not corporate or 1120 compliance work)
• Strong written and spoken English, able to email a client without review
• Available on US Eastern hours, with core overlap 9:00 am-3:00 pm Eastern
• Accounting or related degree; EA a plus, not required
• Comfortable in a small, fast-moving firm where you own your work

Required skills

• Drake, UltraTax, Lacerte, ProSeries or similar professional tax software; Drake preferred
• Ability to use TaxDome for client operations
