About the role
Canonical is looking for a Software Engineer to join its Cloud Engineering team, focusing on Ceph and distributed storage. You will design, build, and maintain modelling software that powers OpenStack, Ceph, and Kubernetes deployments for enterprise customers.
Key responsibilities
- Write high‑quality, rigorously designed Python and Go code.
- Collaborate proactively with a globally distributed team.
- Debug issues, produce reliable fixes, and ensure production‑scale performance.
- Contribute to technical documentation and best‑practice guides.
- Develop and maintain software for delivery, operations, and lifecycle management of Ceph storage.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM or related field.
- Experience writing modern, maintainable Python.
- Hands‑on experience with Ceph storage.
- Strong curiosity, flexibility, accountability and self‑motivation.
- Willingness to travel up to four times a year for internal events.
