Underwriting Manager – LATAM

About the role

AXA Partners is looking for an experienced Underwriting Manager to lead its LATAM Protection business. You will drive profitable growth, shape reinsurance solutions and ensure technical excellence across a diverse, multicultural market.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the LATAM underwriting team, aligning with regional and global strategies.
• Define and evolve underwriting policies and guidelines in close collaboration with product, legal, compliance and risk teams.
• Develop new partnerships and offers while defending existing business in a competitive environment.
• Serve as the primary technical contact for legal and compliance governance, ensuring regulatory adherence.
• Support and promote protection business transformation and innovative reinsurance schemes.
• Engage regularly with internal stakeholders (Sales, Legal, Risk Management, Finance) and external partners (brokers, AXA entities) to align priorities.
• Represent the business in negotiations, managing deals up to €5M GWP for Life and €2M GWP for GAP products.
• Contribute to the strategic vision for the region and cascade objectives to the team.

Required profile

• Actuary or equivalent with over 5 years of experience in underwriting, pricing or product design.
• Deep knowledge of CPI, protection, non‑life risks and reinsurance schemes relevant to LATAM markets.
• Fluent in English and Spanish; French is a plus.
• Strong analytical mindset with a solution‑oriented approach.
• Proven ability to influence change, foster innovation and cascade strategic objectives.
• Experience driving business transformation and deploying innovative reinsurance solutions.
• Excellent negotiation skills and an entrepreneurial spirit to navigate complex market environments.
