Accounting Analyst – Natural Gas (On-site)

About the role

CarbonBetter is seeking an Accounting Analyst to support the accounting operations of its fast‑growing natural gas business. The role is on‑site in Medellín and offers exposure to the full accounting cycle, including receivables, payables, reconciliations, month‑end close, and financial reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with natural gas counterparties to reconcile and resolve trade discrepancies.
• Collaborate with internal trade operations to match trade statements and address differences.
• Support compliance with state taxes related to natural gas activities.
• Process accounts receivable and accounts payable with high accuracy.
• Prepare, reconcile, and remit weekly sales commissions for external partners.
• Conduct detailed monthly profit‑and‑loss analysis for assigned balance‑sheet and income‑statement accounts.
• Perform daily bank reconciliations and monitor cash balances across multiple accounts.
• Review accounting records and financial statements for GAAP compliance.
• Investigate and resolve financial discrepancies by analyzing account information.
• Maintain and improve accounting controls, recommending enhancements where needed.
• Provide backup support for financial reports, tax reporting, regulatory compliance, audits, and ad‑hoc tasks.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Public Accounting, Accounting & Finance, Finance, Financial Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience in accounting or a closely related area.
• Strong multitasking and prioritization abilities in a fast‑growth environment.
• Self‑starter mindset with the capacity to work independently with limited supervision.
• Advanced Excel skills, including lookups and complex formulas.
• Solid knowledge of standard accounting concepts, practices, and procedures.
• Collaborative attitude and ability to work effectively with cross‑functional teams.
