Air Freight Operations Expert (AFR-OAM)

About the role

The Air Freight Operations Expert (AFR‑OAM) will manage end‑to‑end air freight processes, ensuring seamless movement of customer goods while maintaining regulatory compliance and high service quality. Working within a customer‑centric team at the Global Service Center in Bogota, you will be the primary point of contact for customers and internal stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Own transport orders, guarantee timely pick‑up and optimise booking procedures.
• Prepare, control and distribute all required documentation, ensuring compliance with export and import regulations.
• Collaborate with counterparts to validate and finalise shipping documents.
• Assign tasks to supporting functions, monitor performance and drive corrective actions.
• Provide accurate shipment status, documentation guidance, incident resolution and pricing information to customers.
• Record, track and resolve operational exceptions, proactively updating customers.
• Communicate urgency to DHL network colleagues and maintain necessary certifications.
• Capture correct costs and revenues, own financial performance and resolve related issues.
• Forward quotation requests to the Quotations team and pass leads to Sales.
• Support weekend urgencies that could impact shipment movement.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of air regulations, documentation and Incoterms.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in air freight forwarding.
• Proactive, solution‑oriented attitude with excellent attention to detail.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
• Prior customer‑service experience is preferred.
• Students or professionals in industrial engineering, international business or related fields are welcome.

Required skills

• Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel).
• Experience with Cargo Wise Transportation Management System (preferred).
