About the role

The Carrier Sales Representative is responsible for identifying, sourcing, and managing trucking companies that transport our clients' shipments. This role ensures reliable transportation capacity, negotiates competitive rates, and balances revenue and profit objectives while maintaining strong relationships with carriers, operations teams, and customers.

Key responsibilities

  • Source, qualify, and procure carrier services through strategic negotiations in spot and transactional freight markets.
  • Develop and maintain a network of reliable carriers to meet customer shipping requirements.
  • Negotiate rates, service terms, and transportation agreements while balancing profitability and customer satisfaction.
  • Dispatch and coordinate freight movements to ensure timely pickups, transit, and deliveries.
  • Monitor shipments, proactively address delays, capacity shortages, and other operational challenges.
  • Communicate with carriers, drivers, customers, and internal teams to ensure seamless execution.
  • Collaborate with Customer Service Representatives, Operations Managers, and other stakeholders for accurate information flow.
  • Track carrier performance metrics such as reliability and on‑time delivery.
  • Maintain accurate records of carrier rates, lane preferences, equipment availability, and performance.
  • Prepare and analyze reports on carrier performance, transportation costs, and service quality.
  • Stay informed about market conditions, freight trends, and capacity fluctuations.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, transportation regulations, and procedures.

Required profile

  • Strong negotiation, communication, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Proven capability to build and sustain long‑term carrier relationships.
  • Detail‑oriented with the ability to monitor shipments and resolve issues quickly.
  • Collaborative mindset to work effectively with internal teams and external partners.
  • Knowledge of freight market dynamics and capacity trends.
  • Commitment to compliance with regulations and company policies.
