Controller – Accounting & Finance Lead

About the role

We are a fast‑growing private youth‑sports operator in the GTA seeking a detail‑oriented Controller to own our end‑to‑end accounting function. You will manage daily bookkeeping, financial reporting, and internal controls while supporting strategic decisions across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Perform full‑cycle bookkeeping: accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations.
• Match bank feeds and reconcile accounts in QuickBooks Online, including inter‑company transactions.
• Process semi‑monthly payroll using Wagepoint and Square.
• Apply HST and Input Tax Credit knowledge for accurate tax filings.
• Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and produce P&L, balance sheet, and cash‑flow statements.
• Develop and maintain internal controls, ensure GAAP compliance, and coordinate audits and tax filings.
• Prepare budget‑to‑actual variance analyses and support budgeting/forecasting.
• Collaborate with the CFO and department leaders to streamline accounting processes.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
• Experience with full‑cycle accounting in a remote or distributed environment.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities.
• High degree of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail.
