Custodian – Facility Cleaning & Hazardous Waste

About the role

The Custodian ensures that assigned areas are kept clean, sanitary, and safe. This position also manages hazardous waste processes, supporting a healthy environment and compliance with safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily janitorial duties according to the schedule.
• Operate motorized cleaning equipment and maintain its upkeep.
• Handle hazardous waste: collect, classify, sort, store, ship, receive, label, clean, recycle, and package.
• Report incidents and hazardous conditions to the supervisor.
• Follow all safety rules, policies, and procedures, using personal protective equipment.
• Support shift lead with punch‑list items and fill in during staff shortages.
• Maintain a clean work area and present a professional appearance.

Required profile

• Ability to lift or move up to 35 lb.
• Valid driver’s license may be required.
• Forklift certification may be required.
• 3‑6 months of training or related experience preferred.
• Bilingual ability is a plus.

Required skills

• Operation of motorized cleaning equipment.
• Hazardous waste handling and documentation.
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safe usage.
• Forklift operation (if certified).
