Cybersecurity Technician – Bogotá (Non‑EU Hours)

About the role

IE University’s IT Department is looking for a hands‑on Cybersecurity Technician to provide security coverage outside European business hours. Based in Bogotá, you will act as the primary technical reference for the university’s security operations, collaborating with the European team, internal IT groups and an external SOC provider.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the point of contact for cybersecurity incidents during non‑EU hours.
• Validate alerts, make operational decisions and close incidents in coordination with the external SOC.
• Perform urgent security changes on firewalls, EDR/XDR and cloud security platforms.
• Manage the full vulnerability management lifecycle: scanning, validation, prioritisation and remediation follow‑up.
• Execute security hardening actions and technical improvements outside EU business hours.
• Collaborate with IT, Cloud and Infrastructure teams across LATAM and the US.
• Provide clear asynchronous reporting and handover to the European cybersecurity team.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications or a related technical field.
• At least 3 years of hands‑on experience managing or supporting cybersecurity platforms.
• Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail.

Required skills

• Experience with SIEM, SOAR, EDR, IDS/IPS and firewall technologies.
• Proficiency with vulnerability scanning tools such as Nessus.
• Solid understanding of networking concepts.
• Hands‑on knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Incident handling and technical documentation experience.
