Director (Ophthalmology) – Clinical and Regulatory Strategic Communications

About the role

The Director of Clinical and Regulatory Strategic Communications (CRSC) for Ophthalmology leads the creation and delivery of high‑quality regulated content that supports the development pipeline and enables data sharing with customers. This senior position partners across functions to ensure scientific accuracy, compliance, and health‑literacy‑focused communication.

Key responsibilities

• Envision, plan, and manage CRSC projects, collaborating with stakeholders across departments and divisions.
• Provide scientific expertise and oversight for clinical regulatory and public‑facing documents across multiple programs and therapeutic areas.
• Design, author, edit, and review documents following best practices such as lean writing and health literacy principles.
• Serve as escalation point for issues affecting timelines, quality, or compliance.
• Identify and lead initiatives to improve medical‑writing processes, tools, and technology platforms.
• Mentor and coach medical writers, and may manage direct reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a health, scientific, or related discipline (life sciences, pharmacy, medicine, public health).
• Minimum 7 years of medical‑writing or industry experience, with specific ophthalmology expertise, preferably in retinal diseases such as AMD, RVO, or DME.
• Demonstrated ability to lead complex clinical regulatory projects and author documents like protocols.
• Strong critical‑thinking, problem‑solving, and negotiation skills.
