Engineering Technician – Global Field Operations (AMER/LATAM)

About the role

Amazon Web Services is looking for a results‑driven Engineering Technician to support its Global Field Operations across the AMER and LATAM regions. The role will act as the technical lead for colocation and data‑center facilities, ensuring high availability and reliability of critical electrical, mechanical and HVAC systems.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and collaborate with colocation operators on servicing and preventive maintenance of electrical, mechanical and HVAC equipment.
• Perform root‑cause analysis for operational issues and drive corrective actions.
• Conduct on‑site reviews and audits of facilities, including generators, switchgear, UPS, PDUs, batteries, CRAC units, chillers, cooling towers and water‑treatment systems.
• Qualify new sites and oversee retrofits of existing data‑center infrastructure.
• Approve change‑management tasks and support first‑level troubleshooting for rack‑level events.
• Participate in weekly calls with TPMs and CAD designers to design and retrofit cages within the AMER edge space.
• Travel up to 60 % across the LATAM/AMER region to manage relationships with colocation providers.

Required profile

• Engineering background with strong ownership and bias for action.
• Ability to quickly learn diverse systems and leverage internal networks for solutions.
• Willingness to travel extensively and work onsite in multiple locations.
