Estimating Team Lead

About the role

We are seeking an Estimating Team Lead to drive the accuracy and timeliness of project estimates while overseeing a dedicated estimating team. This strategic position ensures estimates align with company standards, optimizes team capacity, and supports pre‑construction activities on complex and high‑risk projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the estimating team, providing continuous feedback, evaluating performance, and ensuring alignment with goals and standards.
• Ensure the accuracy of all estimates, aligned with project scope, drawings, and company guidelines.
• Review and validate high‑risk or high‑volume estimates prior to submission.
• Analyze variances between estimates and execution, identifying root causes and implementing improvements.
• Assign and distribute work based on team capacity, project complexity, size, and deadlines.
• Maintain visibility over workload, pipeline, and backlog to prevent bottlenecks.
• Coordinate closely with the preconstruction team on project intake, prioritization, deadlines, and assignments.
• Make final decisions regarding estimator assignments and team priorities.
• Implement structured cross‑checking processes and standardize estimating criteria.
• Maintain an active role in estimating for complex, strategic, or high‑risk projects.
• Monitor key metrics such as productivity, accuracy, estimate variances, and external resource usage.
• Lead weekly meetings with estimating, engineering, and preconstruction teams to review production, pipeline, risks, and quality.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or related field.
• Fluent conversational English (C1 level).
• 5+ years of progressive experience in construction estimating, preconstruction, or structural steel estimating.
• 1+ years of experience leading teams.
• Proficiency in at least one rebar calculation/estimation platform (aSa Estimating, Shear 97, Soulé, RGS or equivalent).
• Ability to provide performance feedback, coaching, and development support.
