Financial Controller (Remote)

About the role

We are looking for a remote Financial Controller to lead the accounting function for a fast‑growing, funded startup or PE‑backed SMB. The role will manage month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end closes, ensure compliance with US GAAP, and provide accurate financial information to leadership, the board and investors.

Key responsibilities

• Own the monthly, quarterly and year‑end close and deliver accurate financial statements on schedule.
• Maintain US GAAP compliance, including revenue recognition, accruals and consolidations.
• Design, implement and enforce internal controls, accounting policies and scalable processes.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll support and cash reconciliation workflows.
• Prepare reporting packages for leadership, the board and investors; coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors.
• Utilize AI and modern accounting tools to streamline the close and reduce manual effort.

Required profile

• At least 7 years of accounting experience, including roles such as Controller, Assistant Controller or Accounting Manager.
• Proven track record managing full close cycles for a US‑GAAP entity.
• Proficiency with modern accounting platforms (QuickBooks, NetSuite, Xero) and ability to build processes from scratch.
• Excellent written and spoken English for reporting to leadership and auditors.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet strict reporting deadlines.
