Gold Project Manager - Underground Rehabilitation (LATAM)

About the role

Gatesource HR is recruiting a Gold Project Manager to lead the rehabilitation and redevelopment of an underground gold operation in Latin America. It is a technically demanding, high-risk role involving the restart and upgrade of legacy underground infrastructure while keeping production going and safety strict. The position is based in Medellin.

Key responsibilities

• Lead rehabilitation and safe operation of underground workings deeper than 100 m while keeping production running.
• Oversee upgrades to ground control, rock stabilization, ventilation, power and safety systems.
• Manage dewatering systems and reduce geotechnical, flooding and operational risks.
• Enforce underground safety standards and emergency preparedness.
• Turn mine strategy into safe production plans that protect life-of-mine value.
• Control operating and sustaining capital costs, prioritizing safety-critical investments.
• Support expansion studies, mine planning and feasibility evaluations.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and maintain strong risk management systems.
• Improve mine availability through standardized operating practices and use digital monitoring data to boost safety and productivity.
• Promote ESG-aligned, responsible underground mining.

Required profile

• Documented operational and project leadership experience in underground gold mining at depths of 100 m or more.
• Proven expertise managing groundwater ingress and high-volume underground dewatering systems.
• Direct experience rehabilitating old underground workings such as legacy shafts, declines and infrastructure.
• Strong technical background in rock stabilization, including shotcrete support and rock bolting installation and round control planning.
• Demonstrated ability to upgrade ventilation, power and safety systems in active underground environments without stopping operations.
