Governance Counsel Attorney

About the role

Gallagher is seeking a bilingual (English/Spanish) Governance Counsel Attorney to support its global Corporate Governance and Sustainability function. The role focuses on subsidiary governance and ESG/sustainability reporting across multiple jurisdictions, requiring strong legal judgment and project management skills.

Key responsibilities

• Support and continuously improve the global subsidiary governance framework, including processes and documentation.
• Assist with global ESG and sustainability reporting, tracking regulatory requirements such as emissions, workforce, and pay‑transparency disclosures.
• Maintain and update a global sustainability regulatory tracker, monitoring new regulations and supporting periodic updates.
• Coordinate with Legal, Finance, HR, Risk, and ESG teams to gather data and ensure timely, accurate reporting.
• Identify and escalate gaps in disclosure controls that may affect reporting accuracy.
• Interface with external advisors, including auditors and consultants, on governance and sustainability matters.
• Maintain clear, organized, audit‑ready documentation, templates, and trackers.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with 4–7 years of experience in corporate law, governance, compliance, or ESG/sustainability.
• Fully bilingual in English and Spanish with strong written and verbal communication.
• Experience supporting multinational or cross‑border operations.
• Strong project‑management abilities and capacity to manage multiple workstreams.
• High attention to detail and ability to work with complex datasets.
• Proficiency in Excel for managing trackers and datasets.
