Junior/Mid Controller – Accounting & Tax

About the role

We are seeking a Junior/Mid Controller to lead accounting operations and tax compliance for a growing US‑based company operating in Colombia. This high‑visibility position offers direct interaction with US leadership and the chance to shape financial processes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead day‑to‑day accounting operations and ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Manage month‑end and year‑end close processes, including journal entries and reconciliations.
• Prepare and review financial statements.
• Own corporate tax compliance and statutory reporting in Colombia (IVA, retención en la fuente, renta, medios magnéticos).
• Coordinate monthly tax filings and maintain full compliance with Colombian regulations.
• Manage relationships with tax authorities, auditors, and external advisors.
• Communicate regularly with US leadership through memos, reports, and updates.
• Support and mentor the accounting team as it expands.

Required profile

• Solid, hands‑on experience with Colombian corporate tax and accounting.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA/Contador Público is a plus.
• Fluent English for verbal and written communication with US‑based leaders.
• Full‑cycle accounting experience, including close processes and financial statement preparation.
• Willingness to work on‑site in Medellín.

Required skills

• Experience with accounting ERP systems such as ContaPyme, Siigo, SAP, NetSuite or QuickBooks.
