Machine Learning Engineer / Data Scientist (Remote)

About the role

Fusemachines is seeking a mid‑to‑senior Machine Learning Engineer / Data Scientist to design, develop, and deploy end‑to‑end ML solutions that generate measurable business impact for its global clients. The role is fully remote and spans the entire ML lifecycle, from problem definition to production monitoring.

Key responsibilities

• Translate business questions into concrete ML problem statements (classification, regression, forecasting, clustering, recommendation, etc.).
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define success metrics, evaluation plans, and practical constraints such as latency, interpretability, and cost.
• Extract, join, and analyze data using SQL and Python; perform profiling, leakage checks, and exploratory analysis.
• Build robust feature pipelines, including aggregation, encoding, scaling, and embeddings where appropriate.
• Develop and tune supervised models for tabular data using logistic/linear models, tree‑based methods, gradient‑boosting (XGBoost, LightGBM, CatBoost) and neural networks.
• Construct time‑series models, apply clustering techniques, and conduct statistical testing to support decision‑making.
• Implement deep‑learning models with PyTorch or TensorFlow and ensure they are production‑ready.

Required profile

• Strong foundation in core data science and applied machine learning.
• Experience working with real‑world, messy datasets and turning prototypes into production systems.
• Ability to partner with client stakeholders and internal delivery teams.
• Mid‑to‑senior level expertise, comfortable handling end‑to‑end ML projects.
