Manager, Business Strategy COVEC

About the role

Reporting directly to the Vice President, Business Strategy, South LAC, with a dual reporting line to the COVEC Cluster Lead, this role leads Mastercard’s strategy agenda across Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela, Guyana, and Suriname, while supporting broader South Division priorities. As a member of both the South LAC Strategy team and the COVEC Leadership Team, the role partners across the organization to shape strategic priorities, identify new growth opportunities, evaluate investments and business initiatives, support key decision‑making processes, and drive execution against critical business objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and execution of Mastercard’s strategic priorities across COVEC and support selected South Division initiatives.
• Identify, assess, and prioritize growth opportunities across customers, products, services, payment flows, partnerships, and emerging business models.
• Develop market assessments, business cases, financial analyses, strategic recommendations, and investment evaluations to support decision‑making and resource allocation.
• Drive strategic initiatives from concept through execution, coordinating across multiple stakeholders and ensuring alignment with business objectives.
• Support annual strategic planning, business reviews, operating reviews, and executive governance processes.
• Monitor performance against strategic objectives and key business metrics, identifying risks, opportunities, and actions required to drive results.

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience in strategy, management consulting, business development, financial services, payments, fintech, or related industries.
• Proven ability to lead complex strategic and cross‑functional initiatives in dynamic environments.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, including business case development, market assessment, financial analysis, and strategic planning.
• Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with experience working with senior leaders in a matrixed organization.
• Outstanding written, verbal, and presentation abilities, especially for executive audiences.
• Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
• Fluent in English and Spanish.
